Pastoral Leadership Team
Dr. Bill Krewson, Senior Pastor of Discipleship
Since 2005, I have had the privilege of serving the Chelten community as one of its pastors. I am so thankful for the opportunity to preach God's Word and to lead Chelten's Center for Biblical Transformation (chelten.org/cbt). My role on Chelten’s Pastoral Leadership Team is to oversee edification and discipleship ministries, which include women’s and men’s ministries, small groups, children’s and youth ministries, and leadership development.
I also teach part time at Cairn University’s School of Divinity (cairn.edu/academics/divinity). Teaching gives me a unique opportunity to connect the academic world with the church. Another adventure for me is to lead tours to Israel and other Bible lands, a privilege that I have had for the past thirty years.
My family began attending Chelten in 1989 after serving in ministry in North Carolina and California. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family (especially our grandchildren), crafting espresso and cappuccino, discussing Star Trek, and using any Apple product.
Rev. Neil E. Kulp, M.Div, Senior Pastor of Mission
As Senior Pastor of Mission my role is to help the rest of the staff fulfill their roles and responsibilities…whatever that includes, whatever that takes. I have only been on staff since 2010, although I’ve actually been connected to Chelten for over three decades.
You see, I was born and raised at Chelten Avenue Baptist Church in Philadelphia, but I returned to their current campus in my late 20’s, becoming their Youth Pastor, then Missions Pastor through the 1980’s. Although I have degrees in business, I eventually retooled for the ministry earning degrees from Philadelphia Biblical University (now Cairn University) and Bethel Seminary of the East.
Since marrying the former Jacqueline Harkins in 1978, Jackie and I have enjoyed staying active with friends and family, including our four adult children, and nine grandchildren. And when I find the time, sports, yard work, and reading Max Lucado, Tim Keller, and Ravi Zacharias, are on my book list. However most of all, I desire to avail myself and others to the grace and truth of Jesus Christ (John 1:14).
Dr. Bill Smith, Senior Pastor of Worship
My wife Sally and I, along with our three children, have been part of Chelten's community since 2006 when I was invited to help start the Counseling Center. Since then, my job description continues to morph, keeping pace with the changing needs of our growing community. My role on our team of pastors is to oversee the worship and platform ministries of the church, along with local outreach, staff shepherding and prayer ministries.
As a devotional writer and speaker I am regularly captured by God's unrelenting grace and kindness as He longs to connect with people in the midst of their fear, shame, apathy, and sin. I love seeing the unexpected ways that God interacts with people in scripture. And I love unpacking those interactions so that people can see and experience Jesus in ways they haven't before.
At other times I enjoy being with my family, cheering my kids' sporting events (yes, I’m unapologetically one of those parents), rehabbing our home, gardening, cooking, watching movies, and reading.
