Dr. William (Bill) Krewson, Teaching Pastor
Since 2005, I have been serving the Chelten community as Teaching Pastor, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to preach God's Word and to lead Chelten's Center for Biblical Transformation (CBT). My role is to help lay the groundwork that helps our church family understand more of who God is, more of Scripture, and more of our heritage as believers in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
My full-time occupation as a professor at Cairn University's School of Divinity continually keeps me connected to the student generation, which in turn challenges me to seek God in my preaching and my daily life. I love to bring the church and academic world together in my preaching and teaching. Training in both Old and New Testaments and early church history has prepared me for church and school ministries. Leading annual tours to Israel and other Bible lands has been my exciting privilege for the past twenty-five years.
My family began attending Chelten in 1989, and my wife, Bj, and I are thrilled that our two daughters and their families are now worshipping at Chelten as well. We have been in ministry in North Carolina and California and enjoy being "back home" in Pennsylvania. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family (especially our new grandson!), crafting espresso, watching Star Trek, and computing with Apple products.
William (Bill) Smith, M.Div., Ph.D., Shepherding Pastor
My wife Sally and I, along with our three children, have been part of Chelten's community since 2006 when I was invited to help start the Counseling Center. Since then my job description continues to morph, keeping pace with the changing needs of our growing community. I currently support the Counseling Center, Small Group and Support Group ministries while also preaching, teaching, writing, and helping develop our staff.
As a devotional writer and speaker I am regularly captured by God's unrelenting grace and kindness as He longs to connect with people in the midst of their fear, shame, apathy, and sin. I love seeing the unexpected ways that God' interacts with people in scripture. And I love unpacking those interactions so that people can see and experience Jesus in ways they haven't before.
At other times I enjoy being with my family, cheering my kids' sporting events, rehabbing our home, gardening, cooking, watching movies, and reading. To learn more about what I write, check out my website and weekly blog at surprisedbygod.com, like the 'Grace Through the Ages' Facebook page, or follow me on Twitter (@WPS_ministries).
Rev. Neil E. Kulp, Executive Pastor
As Executive Pastor my role is to help the rest of the staff fulfill their roles and responsibilities..whatever that includes, whatever that takes! I have only been on staff since 2010, however I've actually been at Chelten for three decades. You see I was born and raised at Chelten Avenue Baptist Church in Philadelphia, but returned to their current campus in my late 20's, becoming their Youth Pastor then Missions Pastor through the 1980's. Although I have degrees in business, I then retooled myself for the ministry earning degrees from Philadelphia Biblical University (now Cairn University) and Bethel Seminary of the East. Since being married at Chelten in 1978, Jackie and I have enjoyed staying active with friends and family, including our four adult children, and eight grandchildren. And now when I find free time, yard work and reading Max Lucado, Tim Keller, and Ravi Zacharias, are on my list. However most of all, I desire to fill myself and others with the grace and truth from Jesus Christ! (John1:14)
